Coke Bottle Ghosts

I will be the first to admit that I have a problem. I’m addicted to Coca-Cola. I’ve been collecting cokes bottles for projects for a couple of weeks and decided to make a ghost family out of the different sizes. I LOVE the way they turned out.   Coke Bottle GhostsThe first part of the project is painting the inside of the bottles. You will need:

  • 3 different sized bottles
  • White paint (acrylic or similar)
  • Paper plate to catch paint

Coke Bottle GhostsStart by pouring a good amount of paint into the bottles, you want to make sure you have enough paint to cover all of the glass. Coke Bottle Ghosts Tilt and swirl the bottle so the paint covers the entire inside of the glassCoke Bottle Ghosts Let your bottles stand upside down for at least a day on a paper plate or bowl to let the paint inside dry. After about 20 minutes I would lift the bottle and place it on another plate to let the extra paint out of the bottle. Coke Bottle Ghosts After the bottles have sat for about a day you can move them, be careful touching the inside as it will still probably be sticky.Coke Bottle Ghosts I tried everything to remove the Coca-Cola paint from the outside of the jars but had little success. Instead I decided to paint over the red logo white for the ghost faces to be attached to. I’m glad I did as it made the faces stand out better.

To paint the outside of the bottles and make your ghost faces you will need:

  • White Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Hot Glue/Hot Glue Gun
  • Black Felt
  • Ribbon

Place the painter’s tape on the glass bottles above and below the painted label. Coke Bottle Ghosts Paint one coat of white paint over the logo painted on the bottles Coke Bottle GhostsWait for the first coat to dry and paint a second coat of white paint Coke Bottle GhostsAfter the paint has fully dried remove the painter’s tapeCoke Bottle Ghosts I made three bows small, medium, and large. These easy bows were made by taking a length of ribbon and hot gluing it into a circle then taking a smaller length of ribbon and wrapping it around the middle and gluing it around the back. Coke Bottle Ghosts I cut out three little faces out of the felt for my little ghost facesCoke Bottle Ghosts I hot glued the faces and bows onto the bottles I made the big bottle (Pappa Ghost) and little bottle (Baby Ghost) have little bow ties and the medium bottle (Momma Ghost) have a hair bow.Coke Bottle Ghosts Display your new little ghost family for the Halloween season!Coke Bottle Ghosts
